The Anybus comDTM is compliant to the latest standard; FDT 1.2A. It is certified by the latest conformity test authority made public in September 2005.
comDTM for Anybus-PCI cards
The PCI card is a typical application for usage with FDT. Imagine a running control system with its PLC and Profibus master for process control. Now, the maintenance personnel wants to re-parameterize a radar level transmitter situated on top of a 45 meter high silo. They connect their maintenance PC in the control room to the Profibus cable and start up the FDT frame tool. The PC is configured according to the picture above including an Anybus PCI-card. They are now able open up the slaveDTM supplied by the radar level transmitter manufacturer and parameterize the device remotely from the control room. The device manufacturer might also include trends for the latest month of operation to tell the personnel about the health of the product. Diagram Overview
comDTM for Anybus X-gateways
All Anybus X-gateways with Profibus master feature support for FDT. Remote access is achieved if a gateway with Ethernet is used. If Ethernet is not available it is possible to use the RS232 config port of the Profibus master. Diagram Overview

Another opportunity to use the comDTM is directly together with our Anybus-M embedded cards and an OEM host product. Diagram Overview
Communication possibilities are then either through the RS232 config port of the Profibus master card, or via the DPRAM if the OEM manufacturer creates a transport provider according to the Anybus API. The illustration below outlines the scenario using a transport provider from an OEM manufacturer.
License
The Anybus comDTM is delivered on a license base on a CD with relevant documentation and enclosed in the packaging.
The single license includes at max. 15 Profibus Master devices handled by the comDTM with unlimited amount of PC-installations. If a customer requires to handle a greater amount of masters than covered by one license it is required to purchase a multiple of licenses. The amount of masters is calculated based on the total amount of masters installed in a plant.
Licensing example
If a customer has an installation of 73 masters he would need to purchase 5 licenses. This is no technical limitation but it is the base for calculating the required quantity of licences within a complete system.
Demo
Additionally a fully functional but limited demo version is available on the HMS web. The demo will work with maximum 3 slaveDTM:s installed.
Overview Anybus comDTM for Profibus
The Anybus comDTM for Profibus from HMS Industrial Networks together with a compatible FDT 1.2a frame application connect multiple device DTM's to respective PROFIBUS connected field instruments. Typical FDT frame applications are Fieldcare (Endress & Hauser), PACTware (PACTware association) or fdtCONTAINER (MM-Software). The Anybus DPV1 Master module supports Class 1 and 2 services thereby allowing for PLC cyclic Class 1 services to co-exist with the acyclic comDTM Class 2 services on the same network.

The Anybus comDTM is suitable for the products Anybus-M embedded Profibus master module, the Anybus-PCI Profibus master card and the Anybus X-gateway with Profibus master. The X-gateway enables remote FDT access to the Profibus network via Ethernet.
