Powerful Master and Slave PC-Interfaces and software supporting Profibus, DeviceNet, AS-Interface, EtherNet/IP & Profinet. Based on proven embedded Anybus technology.
The Anybus-PCI cards are based on the proven Anybus technology, implemented in over 300,000 industrial applications worldwide.
Our partner HMS has developed this PCI solution based on the high performance / high volume embedded Anybus Master and Slave interface range. As a result HMS can offer a very competitively priced PCI solution with the high performance and interchangeability of the Anybus range.

Technical Overview
Powerful Master and Slave PC-Interfaces and softare supporting Profibus, DeviceNet and AS-Interface. Based on proven Anybus technology.
3.3 or 5V
The Anybus-PCI range is a solution operating at both 3,3 & 5V that offers Master & Slave versions for Profibus and DeviceNet and a Master version for AS-Interface.
Common API
The Application Programming Interface (API) used on the PCI card simplifies development drastically by taking care of low level functions such as handshaking and providing easy to use functions for common Anybus related tasks such as mailbox handling. The API provides a plug and play interface compatible with all available Anybus Master and Slave interfaces.
2Kbyte Dual Port Ram
The Anybus-PCI interface contains a Dual Port Ram that allows the module and the host device to independently address different memory areas. The PCI cards also contain an on-board microprocessor, fieldbus ASIC, DC/DC converters, opto couplers and line drivers in order to fulfil all requirements for each fieldbus.
Additional Mailbox Interface
Provided additionally through the Anybus module is a “Mailbox interface” which allows the user to take advantage of all features in the Anybus-S module and the specific fieldbus network. Through this interface it is possible to customize the PCI card to be more device specific and present itself on the network as a custom product.
Windows Driver
The source code is easily written using the provided sample codes and library files. Example codes are available in C++, Visual Basic and Delphi.
Software Development Kit
An SDK is available for customers using the cards in non-Windows operating systems. C-code of Windows hardware drivers will be provided upon request.
OPC Server & CoDeSys Driver
HMS provides a free OPC Server for its line of PCI Interface cards, Anybus-PCI. Together, the card and the OPC Server, allow users of software applications, such as Scada systems or HMI’s (OPC Clients), to access real-time data from devices connected to an Industrial Network.
The OPC Server supports Data Access (DA) 3.0 and includes a Tag Editor. Included also is a driver for CoDeSysCoDeSys Realtime Runtime System for Windows NT/2000/XP from 3S.

Questions & Answers on Anybus-PCI
Read the most common questions about the Anybus-PCI Cards & Software.
Q: Is the Anybus PCI card compatible with all PCs?
A: The card is a “short PCI” card supporting both 5 volt and 3,3 volt operation (“Universal keyed”). This makes the card compatible with most PCs with a PCI slot.
Q: When I install the Anybus PCI card I need to select "transport provider", what’s that?
A: The drivers from HMS are designed to be modular. The "transport provider" is a software piece that route data between the Anybus API and the low level drivers of the PCI card.
Q: HMS supplies drivers for Windows environment, but I am using WxWorks, can I use the Anybus PCI card?
A: HMS does not provide standard drivers for WxWorks, but for OEMs we provide the source code so the OEM-can modify this to his OS environment or other specific needs. We have “Anybus Solution Provider” (ASP) partners who offer design custom drivers. RESoluCOM is an ASP.
Q: If I want to use the Profibus Master, how do I configure the Profibus Slaves connected to the Master?
A: You need the HMS Software “NetTool for Profibus ” which is our new Windows based configuration software. A free download is available on www.anybus.com (free version is limited to connect two slaves only)
Q: I am using RS Networks software from Rockwell Automation, can I configure the DeviceNet Scanner and DevcieNet Adapter from this tool?
A: Yes, you can configure the DevcieNet cards from RS-Networx, you might need the KFD device from Rockwell to connect the DeviceNet network.
Q: We design an embedded controller based on the PLC kernel from Smart Software Solutions (3S), can we use Anybus PCI?
A: Yes, both the Anybus PCI card and the embedded Anybus modules are supported by the 3S software (from 3S version 2.3 ; service pack 3)
