Introduction Anybus OPC Server

The Anybus OPC server was developed in co-operation with MatrikonOPC Inc, one of the leading suppliers of OPC technology on the world market. Matrikon made a brandlabelling for HMS of their basic OPC server, and they also developed the hardware software driver using HMS Anybus-S API hardware drivers. This means that the OPC server uses the Anybus-S Transport Provider API to communicate with the Anybus hardware. It also means that all Anybus hardware communicating through this API has the possibility to use the Anybus OPC server.

It is possible to use the Anybus OPC-server together with the Anybus PCI Card’s and with Anybus X-gateways including Ethernet.

Anybus OPC Server Product Delivery
The OPC-server is free of charge and downloadable from HMS web-site. It can be found in the download section and on the dedicated OPC product page, or for every product supporting the OPC server. Its distributed on CD:s that accompany the Anybus products, such as the PCI cards.

Along with the CD are other evaluation software products from Matrikon found as well. These products are not sold by HMS but we are referring customers directly to Matrikon for information and sales of these software products.

The software package contains an installer for the OPC server itself and also various installers for Hardware Drivers (HMS Transport Providers), such as PCI-card, Ethernet, serial cable etc.

OPC Server with Anybus-PCI Cards
All Anybus PCI-cards feature support for the OPC server, both masters and slaves. The PCI-card gives the best performance since the access to the Anybus-S card is made through the high performance PCI interface. Diagram Overview

If a Master card is chosen it might be necessary to have a configuration tool to configure the fieldbus side of the card, such as Anybus NetTool for Profibus or DeviceNet.

Typical applications would be: SCADA systems, Soft PLC applications and Remote control.

OPC Server with Anybus X-gateways including Ethernet
All Ethernet versions of the X-gateway feature support for the OPC server. That means support for up to 17 different network interfaces! This is made possible through the HMS Ethernet Transport Provider. Diagram Overview

This is an excellent application where we enable remote access to fieldbus data over a standard TCP/IP network using Ethernet copper cables or optical fibres. It is possible to have the connection through the open internet.

Overview OPC Server

The Anybus OPC Server for Anybus interface modules enables any OPC client application, such as an HMI, to
access Profibus, DeviceNet and AS-I networks via the Anybus interface. The OPC server is installed on a Windows PC and communicates directly with the HMS Anybus interface. The server is compliant to all existing versions of the OPC Data Access (DA) standards, v1.0, 2,05 and 3.0. This guarantees compatibility with your OPC Client!

Anybus interface cards enables users to
connect Field Devices to Industrial PCs. The interfaces are optimized for PC-based industrial control and visualization applications and support the leading
Fieldbus technologies, such as: Profi bus, DeviceNet ASInterface, Ethernet/IP, Profinet IO and ModbusTCP.

The range of fieldbuses extends up to 17 different types when using the Anybus X-gateway. (Note: the X-gateway Ethernet driver release is scheduled for end of December 2006)

The Anybus OPC server is free of charge! User registration is required, but an unregistered version will run in trial mode for 30 days.
