JetNet 4005 is a 5-port Web-Managed Industrial Ethernet Switch, which is specially designed for industrial applications. JetNet4005 comes with Super Ring technology, which is used to set up a redundant Ethernet ring topology. JetNet 4005 also has redundant DC power inputs that can be connected to DC power sources simultaneously. JetNet 4005 is equipped with a terminal block and a DC adapter jack for power input. JetNet 4005 uses a robust aluminum case that meets IP31 standard. JetNet 4005 provides port-based VLAN, which allows each port to create a single VLAN and overlap the other ports. The RJ-45 ports support auto MDI/MDI-X function. This function can auto detects whether a cable is a crossover or straight one. JetNet 4005 fulfills the requirements of industrial automation.

QoS - Determinism Ethernet Technology

The primary concern about utilizing Ethernet technology in the arena of industrial automation is that Ethernet is not deterministic. Unlike other traditional field bus, Ethernet uses the collision domain (CSMA/CD) technology to determine the sequence of data transmission, which is not ideal for applications that require real-time responses. Quality of Service (QoS) is implemented to improve Ethernet's shortcoming on determinism. It provides the ability to prioritize data packets according to their importance to the system. In a typical scenario, various data packets might be queued in a switch at the same time. JetNet 4000 with QoS function can detect information of each packet to determine which ones are top priority tasks. This 35 mm DIN-Rail switch not only includes all functions of a unmanaged switch, but also possesses powerful features, such as port VLAN, Quality of Service, IGMP (Internet Group Management Protocol) snooping and failure alarm by relay output. With a web-based configuration interface, JetNet 4008 ensures an easy installation and management of your switches. JetNet 4008 also uses a robust aluminum case, offering IP31 standard protection. JetNet 4008 provides powerful device redundancy, including a redundant Ethernet network (Super Ring), and redundant power inputs. JetNet 4008 is the best solution to enhance your industrial networking automation.

VLAN- Improves Network security and performance
VLAN (Virtual LAN) provides many benefits when you plan your network for Industrial applications. Via software, VLAN groups devices into a logical subgroup within a local area network regardless of the physical LAN segment they are attached. VLAN protects your important industrial devices or systems from unauthorized access. With VLAN function, devices from a different LAN cannot communicate or access your LAN, providing extra security to the entire network. VLAN function also can restrain the traffic within a VLAN. It ensures that the traffic only circulates within a sub-domain without broadcasting over the entire network.
By doing so, network performance can be improved in a large scale. Another advantage of VLAN is that when an industrial device is physically moved to another location, it can stay on the same VLAN without any hardware reconfiguration.

IGMP Snooping- Deliver the right data to right place
IGMP (Internet Group Management Protocol) plays a significant role in industrial automation, especially for VOIP (Video Over IP) applications. IGMP may be used with some field bus protocols over Ethernet, such as Siemens Profinet, Rockwell EtherNet/IP, and Foundation Fieldbus HSE (High Speed Ethernet). These industrial Ethernet protocols make extensive use of publisher/subscriber communications models by
multicasting packets over the network. For this reason, multicasting traffic floods in a network since a
switch cannot determine which multicasting strings belong to which group of users. It simply broadcasts over the entire network. It can consume a lot of bandwidth if many servers are multicasting and sending streams to a certain segment. The purpose of IGMP snooping is to restrain multicasting traffic in a switched network. By filtering the multicasting traffic and sorting it to corresponding group of devices, a switch forwards messages only to the interface that is interested in the traffic. It ensures that the right data will be only sent to the right destination. It will reduce the total amount of traffic on the entire network substantially.
